I have written about this before but I think it serves repeating periodically. The biggest threat to the extinction of mankind may not be man but what he has created in the form of computer intelligence installed into robotic devices.
Whether they are cars like Tesla and others who have various forms of limited Self Driving equipment installed right now or whether these are drones with hell fire missiles or just hobbyists with pistols and or rifles or bombs installed or whether they are just robots that walk or like the one on tracks that blew up the shooter in Dallas recently.
All over the world more and more people are going to die at the hands of various robotic devices. But, I see the real problem is when you make a robot of air, land, sea or space and just make it autonomously kill a whole segment of humanity.
You might say, "This could never happen."
However, what if you sent something like that into Paris or London or other places people don't have weapons. Let's say this device has lasers that can just send a beam out and if they go in a circle just cut everyone in two within a block or two of them by just turning around in a 360 degree circle. In other words even without a bomb such a robot might kill thousands of people at an event within a few seconds.
You might say "OH there's nothing like that in existence now."
Nope.
Your wrong there are ship killing lasers already and there are robots they could be mounted on right now.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
