If you don't know what a Vision quest is it is a native American way to find out what God wants you to do next in life. One prays and fasts in the wilderness alone for 4 days and nights "96 hours" with no food and no water with only maybe a sleeping bag, (some might use a tent if there are mosquitos or other bug problems where you are). I didn't have this problem though.
But, each person's experience will be different depending upon what time of year they do this. Most people will choose spring, summer or fall so they don't get cold and die from their vision quest thought. I did this in summer in either July or August of 1983 I believe.
However, each person's experience will be different.
How are you praying?
What is happening in your life before and after this vision quest?
What is your health like, both mental and physical and spiritual before and after?
These questions and many more are important to consider Before going on a vision quest like this.
One thing I might say is that you want potable water and food within a few miles of you for after the vision quest. I had to walk about 4 miles at the end of the 4th day when my 96 hours was over and it was hard to balance and walk along the Trinity River in Northern California to get back to where there was water I could drink and there was food once again. Then the medicine man there did another sweat and we drank water and ate food after the sweat lodge for the first time for me in 96 hours. This was a very amazing experience but be sure you are psychologically and physically prepared for something like this so you can survive it on all levels.
What did I learn from this vision quest then?
I learned that people here on earth are much more amazing than I realized including myself.
I think people always underestimate who and what they actually are as beings living here on earth.
A vision quest opens up your senses to nature and to God in a natural way of starvation and dying of thirst where God speaks more plainly to people like he has for thousands and thousands of years when they were starving. So, if you can go through this without panicking then God can speak to you and show you things that you wouldn't likely become aware of any other way that I know of presently.
By God's Grace
I did this in my mid thirties when I was very very healthy. I wouldn't do it now at 71.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
