It's hard to say that you were wrong even to yourself

It wasn't easy for me to turn my back on the Republican party in the 1970s because of Nixon. It took a lot of betrayal by Nixon before I could do this as a young man. Likewise, many younger people who were raised Republican have or will turn their back on Trump's Republican party too if they haven't already just like I was forced to in the 1970s because of Nixon. It's not an easy thing and mostly younger people under 30 are even able to do this because they are more used to making changes in their lives. So, likely many people older than 30 will go to their graves supporting Trump as their idol just like many people went to their graves supporting Nixon or Hitler. But, the rest of us have to find some way to protect our democracy from Trump's insanity because it somehow continues to spread through people especially after coronavirus has harmed people's reality. It likely will be a completely different world 5 years from now, hopefully with Trump gone or further diminished by time.

If you are capable of reason and logic hopefully you can see that our government since 1776 is worth protecting from people as insane as Trump worldwide.

I think  some people are loyal to Trump like people would be a family member who had progressive senile Dementia or Alzheimers. You want to be loyal to this family member, but then at some point you might realize that the rest of the family still has to survive even though your family member is now not to be considered sane anymore even if they were "Head of the family or tribe of people you are a part of".

So, I would say all this is more about tribal loyalty than anything else which can be extremely dangerous in a situation like this one where the mental health of a leader is failing this bad.
