Because it's your common sense and instinct and intuition that actually will keep you alive. The main problem I see with police or military training is often they train out of you your ability to stay alive.
Though this is usually done with the best of intentions these training techniques allow armies to win battles but often destroy the individual abilities of people to survive when they are out of the military later in their lives. So, if they don't stay in the military or become police of various kinds this training is often destructive to their families and friends and to themselves and often people with this training will eventually kill themselves because they cannot live with what they have become through PTSD and having to kill or be killed in various situations around the world.
So, not joining the military is more likely to keep you alive to old age (though there are always exceptions to every general rule as well).
It's more likely that your common sense and intuition and abilities to stay alive will more likely stay intact without military training better.
Some people see this as counterintuitive from watching cop and war stories on TV. And for some people this also might be valid.
However, if you can instead develop your instincts and common sense and intuition you will more likely still be alive at 100 years old if you want to.
For example, the thing I'm most grateful for is that I didn't have to kill anyone in this lifetime. My cousin and I are the first generation that weren't forced to at least shoot at other people at some point in their lives.
And I believe this one factor of not having to shoot at or kill anyone in our lives is one reason that I'm 73 and still alive and my cousin is 78 and still working at his own business.
In other words we don't have war time PTSD of people who shot at us or people we had to shoot to stay alive.
And for this we both are very grateful.
By God's Grace
