the Winds today were above 30 mph today on this side of Maui

I think they said it was 34 miles per hour. When Sailboats like Catamarans sailed by often they ONLY had their front jib up and no mainsail because of this high of a wind. When the wind is that high you don't really want to usually raise your mainsail because bad things might happen in that high of a wind. Usually in a wind like that you would never throw out your spinnaker either because something might break.

The low temperature today is 74 degrees Fahrenheit here on the West Side of Maui.

The lowest temperature in Kauai we saw was 68 for the contrast.

Friends of mine swam out in this about a mile and had some trouble getting back to shore but they made it. The man had a kick board which is smaller than a full size boogie board for extra floatation while snorkeling but I'm not going to swim out a mile anymore into the ocean to see the coral and the fishes better at this point in my life being 74 (unless I'm in or with a motorized boat or sailboat.)
