About 3 times as many acres burned this year as last in California

Though it's important to say that the amount of rain before last years rainy season was extreme and one for the record books after a long drought. Last years rainfall was normal but winds contributed a lot to the fires and downed power lines from the winds. California now on windy days often shuts off some power lines to prevent big fires like the Paradise fire so more people can keep their homes and not have them burn down from falling power lines in the winds.

So, one of the biggest causes of our fires now tend to be falling power lines in the heavy winds when they occur in various parts of the state.

About 1 million acres of land burned in the last year here in California.
