I was taught conservative Libertarian Values as I was growing up

It means (in a traditional sense since 1776) that you believe everyone has an opportunity to succeed or fail and you just let either thing happen and some will live and some will die on the road of life.

This is basically what I was taught growing up.

However, then I entered college and saw life in a more liberal way from going to public colleges and universities here in California. So, I could see the good from a Conservative Liberal point of view but I also saw the suffering of people in general and that many people needed help from the Government or they would starve or die in various ways.

So, though I remained a Libertarian in thoughts and actions in regard to being very self motivated I also saw the wisdom of caring for people so they all didn't die or suffer needlessly.

So now I would call myself an Independent Libertarian who believes people who can't take care of themselves don't need to all die like they used to.

Life expectancy was 60 years old in 1900 when there was no social security or unemployment insurance.

Getting old or even losing a job or your health was often fatal for a person and their whole family too which led to this 60 years life expectancy in 1900.

By the 1930s Social Security began and Unemployment insurance soon began too then Medicare began too. All of these things raised our life expectancy as a nation up into our 70s and hopefully one day beyond this.

Now if you live to be 30 first, you are likely to see 90 years of age. This is the best way to put this presently.

Most deaths are from zero to 30 here in the U.S. So, just getting to age 30 alive and well is a real accomplishment for ANYONE!
