First of all you have to be sincere and real about what you are putting on your site. This is the first thing.
The 2nd thing is that you need to check your stats page (Statistics page) to see what people are reading at your site the most.
When I first started doing this around 2010 or 2011 at this site I actually could not believe what people were actually reading about.
For example, this was one of my first big viral articles:
I was pretty surprised about this at the time. However, I guess everyone might secretly want to be a private pilot like I always did. In fact, I wanted to be either an Alaskan Bush Pilot or an Airline pilot. However, I knew I didn't want to have to join the military to learn to fly jets or something like that.
I had had a friend from High School who contracted with the Army to train him as a Helicopter pilot for Viet Nam but they never trained him like his contract said. So, he sued them and they released him from the Army during the Viet Nam War because they had lied to him and didn't train him to be a helicopter pilot.
But, I had to promise my Dad I wouldn't solo in a plane until he had passed away because his younger brother died in 1942 in a plane crash we believe.
So, I didn't solo in a Cessna 152 until likely 1989 which is 4 years after my father passed away.
It was a strange experience especially in a cross wind up there where I had to fly figure 8s which is strange when you are being blown sideways to try to make the figure 8 pattern in the sky at one altitude whatever the instructor chooses.
It's also helpful to know about cross winds so they don't blow you into a mountain while you are going straight forward.
At age 10 I flew from Yucca Valley in 1958 in a 1949 Stinson owned by my father's best friend into the Van Nuys airport in Los Angeles. I didn't take off or land the plane but flew it up the valley between Palm Springs and San Gorgonio Mountain. This taught me how to crab into the wind so we didn't crash into a mountain from heavy Crosswinds. So, in some ways I found it more like sailing a boat than actually flying a plane because I had to point into the wind and basically fly almost sideways towards Los Angeles that day because of the heavy crosswinds so we didn't crash into the 11,000 foot high San Gorgonio mountain to our right heading towards Los Angeles. to do this you push hard on the left rudder pedal and try to keep flying basically sideways into the wind so you are leading with one wing (the right one in this case) instead of leading with the nose of the plane. If you are not a pilot you likely don't know about things like this. our Cruising altitude that day was I believe 7000 feet but the mountain was right to the right of us at over 11,000 feet.
So, anyway, I realized that if I gave my readers what they were interested in reading and these were things I was also interested in that I found my site grew a lot in readership.
If you don't give people what they want to read about; "Why should they come to your site at all?"
This is the question you need to ask yourself.
So, you watch your statistics page (Stats page) and see what people are reading in order to grow your site.
For example, almost 400,000 people visited my site last month. The month of October.
