The population of Canada is around the same size as the population of California whereas Australia is around 27 million

I was trying to remember the population of Canada and was thinking it was 16 to 26 million which is likely what it was for me growing up likely in the 1950s? I found it pretty interesting that the population of California is also about the population of Canada.
