I had to take the dog out but it was really raining so I put a businessman's trench coat on and over that a rubber work jacket (the kind you might not be able to buy anymore. However, it wouldn't go over the trenchcoat so I just put the rubber hood on my head and draped the rubber coat over my shoulders so the dog could do her business on a leash.
Since she is a Corgi and not a German Shepard or Pit Bull I never send her out at night alone. we always put her on a leash at night because where I live there are Mountain Lions, Coyotes, two types of foxes, Raccoons (which are really dangerous if they are traveling as a family at night) and skunks which can easily blind a dog when they spray into a dog's eyes. Very serious. So, if the dog goes out to do her business she is always on a leash with one of us there to protect her if it is night out.
So, as I brought in the dogs geodesic balls that are rubber that she likes to play doggie soccer for the night instead of them blowing all over the deck I checked to make sure none of the outdoor chairs had blown over in the howling wind and driving rain.
I hope none of the tall trees especially pine and redwood trees blow down tonight in our area with these gusts. However, we might be okay because I don't think the roots are that soaked yet so they might not start blowing down until the soil gets more saturated by the rains. However, it is supposed to keep raining now through next Wednesday off and on also.
