These are some of Robert Heinlein's books. He was my favorite SciFI author starting at age 10 in 1958

I think reading these books (at least in a scientific theory sense) shaped my view of what the future would be. However, back then everything after around 1972 WAS (THE FUTURE FOR ME) then.
