Rain today with storms off and on through Christmas Eve

Though we need the rain here in Northern California I was hoping for some sun around Christmas Eve and Christmas Day but it likely isn't going to happen today. Our youngest daughter has joined us for Christmas and flew in for that today. So, this is wonderful to see her. We haven't seen her since August when another one of our daughter's had a son. So, it's great to see her again.

We three went to the beach today where it looked like a Rainstorm to the point where there wasn't even a silver sunset like often happens when it is cloudy. Instead it was almost dark even before the sun set with a mist in the air and everything pretty gray.

The waves are growing in intensity too which always makes us worry about Tourists who don't understand how dangerous the ocean is this time of year, especially if you are on rocks too near the ocean where you can have nowhere to run away when a sneaker wave comes in and then those people are gone usually within 15 minutes unless they are Olympic level swimmers and very efficient getting back to shore.

So, today was amazing but I was careful to stay only above where the sand was wet from previous waves which protects you usually from all waves but the sneaker waves which can usually be the 7th big wave of a set often (but not always). So, if you are not on the sand when a sneaker wave hits so you can run away it isn't good.

Anyway, where I walked onto the beach I realized today there was going to be 8 feet more vertical of sand lost through the coming storms to where getting onto the beach there would be difficult for me at this age.

However, it is always wonderful to see the ocean anytime of year because it is always so alive with birds and seals and sea Otters and everything else. So, I'm grateful the three of us of our much larger family were able to be here together this week for Christmas.

By God's Grace
