So, the priority has to be saving people's lives over saving people's homes and businesses as a direct result. I think most people might not understand this and will be very angry at what happened.
However, it's important to remember that there has NEVER been in Los Angeles fires like hit this week.
This has never happened before much like the Paradise Fire and the Lahaina Fire. Nothing like this every happened before so as a result there is no way really to prepare for something like this other than building an underground house that cannot burn down because of cement firewalls between the above ground house and the below ground house.
IF people begin to build houses under ground with a cement firewall that cannot be breached between the two they would have somewhere to live while they rebuild their homes above ground.
Because this likely isn't the last time that Los Angeles County is going to burn like this whether it is this year or next year or 5 years from now or 10 years from now.
This sort of thing likely will happen again because of global climate changes and the ongoing conditions like humidity being this low (6%) when fire first burst out or winds up to 100 mph or no rain for 8 months basically.
All these conditions could create more fires like this there or worse next time whether that is tomorrow or 10 years from now.
It seems pretty inevitable now that this could easily happen again with similar conditions in the future.
Accepting this might be the beginning of whole new ways of building new houses and businesses.
Fire insurance is needed for a mortgage on any building (business or domestic) and this is another issue to be dealt with as well.
But, fires like this likely will happen again at some point and people need to be aware of the possibility of this happening again, again and again over time.
It's as inevitable as sea level rise and wind speeds increasing over time too.
