demonstrates to me the unpredictability of the weather worldwide now. There was a good statement for someone like myself who grew up in Los Angeles County mostly in Glendale which is:
"This is not your grandparents Los Angeles County fire" which says it all.
It could be said that neither the Lahaina Fire, nor the Paradise Fire nor the present fires in Los Angeles are ANYTHING AT ALL like the fires that came before and likely they will happen again in the future at some point with or without fire insurance.
As it is over 40% of those 10,000 buildings were not insured for fire so they might not ever be replaced ever.
Also, when I was in Lahaina a little less than one year after it burned down when I was there with my wife and friends in April of 2024 I realized that Lahaina likely is basically gone forever for a variety of reasons. It's basically too expensive to rebuild most of the homes and most of the people likely didn't have fire insurance (because why would they on a beautiful island like Maui. A fire like this just isn't logical to most people in Lahaina, Paradise or Los Angeles County.
Everything is changing people either people find a way to deal with these changes or they won't be around anymore. This is the honest truth about all this.
Blaming people for the weather and the lack of technology to fight fires like this isn't useful. Finding a practical way forward to survive these and other fires and other calamities is how people need to think now.
Otherwise, they might not be around very long.
Something to think about.
If you don't save your life from these fires there is no future for you at all here on earth. This is basically what I'm saying here.
First survive. Then think about where you are going to live next week or go rent a hotel room away from the fires somewhere upwind of the fires.
Survive first so you can live to see another day somewhere on earth!
