So, likely flying if you are trying to take I-70 anywhere might be a good idea today or maybe the trains if they are still running. Because even Buses or cars or trucks likely aren't going much of anywhere on I-70 today it appears from the weather map.
I watched Semis sliding off I -70 yesterday and Cars barely miss each other as they slid across the center divider into oncoming traffic. If you have ever been in a slide on a freeway in the snow (I have) it is one of the scariest things you will ever experience.
I was coming south from Yreka into Mt. Shasta (downhill) at around 25 to 30 miles per hour and there was a semi jackknifed across the freeway headed south and the freeway was like ice. There was another Semi that I knew likely was going to hit the semi in front of me so I downshifted into a lower gear because I was already in 4 wheel drive in my wife's then 1989 4runner. My kids were in the car too so I was really scared it was going to be bad.
However, by downshifting and moving into the furthest right emergency lane I could slowly slide by the overturned semi without plowing into it. Anyone who used their brakes that day in that situation likely isn't alive now because in a downhill situation like that using brakes is almost always death. Hopefully you know how to downshift in 4 wheel drive in order to survive something like that.
I would have crashed into that semi likely if I had a front wheel drive car and had downshifted by the way.
But, luckily I was in 4 wheel drive already so I could downshift and survive along with my family that day.
