Around the time he was valedictorian of his Senior High School Class he began studying about food and diet.
His research led him to find out that the additives to especially steers and pigs were killing people. Often these things were added to Steers and pigs so that the producers could get more money per pound for the flesh or other reasons. But the end result often was an early death.
For example, my father like his father and brother were electrical Contractors because my father's father wouldn't let him go to college or let his brothers go to college either.
So, he became an electrical Contractor when I was around 12 years old after working as an electrician in Seattle and San Diego and Los Angeles since around 1937 when he got out of the Marine Corps reserve as a Gunner in a biplane for the Marine Corps. His older brother served with him in the same plane squadron as well in the marine Corps. reserves.
So, in 1934 at age 18 he became a vegetarian for health reasons.
He then found out about Paul Bragg who was the teacher also of Jack Lalanne who got people interested in Jogging and building Gyms for people to work out in and also got people into eating organic foods on TV.
So, Jack Lalanne and my father both studied with Paul Bragg and his ideas regarding organic food and exercise.
