What is a householder Yogi?

When I was young growing up my parents raised me in a mystical Christian religion that emphasized Celibacy. However, by my early teens I knew this wasn't going to work for me.

So, I began to try to figure out my future and realized I wanted to have children and raise children so this meant I likely would have to marry to do this. (remember I was born in 1948) and the birth control pill wasn't even on the market until 1960 when I was 12.

So, when I read "Autobiography of a Yogi" I heard about Lahiri Mahasaya who was Yogananda's Paramguru (the guru of his guru) Shri Yuteswar.

However, Lahiri Mahasaya also worked for the railroad and was married with a family in addition to being a Guru.

I became very interested in this because he wasn't celibate like many Gurus tend to be. Also, I had been exposed to a lot of celibate people which at this point I see celibacy as mostly not useful to human beings.

Why?

Because sex is sort of like food. If you get enough you survive and if you don't it might make you crazy at the very least.

This is likely true for all people on earth if they are not asexual where they don't have sexual desires at all and usually these kinds of people never have children either. Because if you don't have any sexual desires how are children ever going to be born  from you?

So, the idea of a Householder Yogi was really interesting to me.

So, I realized that was what I wanted to do where my Yoga was raising children and taking care of my wife.

I was sort of lost in many ways before I got married the first time and then everyone showed me so much respect for marrying my pregnant Girlfriend.

I was really surprised how well everyone treated me when I married my pregnant Girlfriend but I also realized that this was my yoga (Spiritual Discipline).

This has worked great for me ever since to keep me alive so I could take care of my children and grandchildren by starting and running businesses.

By God's Grace
