As I observed this ongoing I saw how it was done. We here in the U.S. live in a very materialistic culture.
However, in Asia often the really scientific part is spiritual science developed way back as far as Sanskrit and other languages developed.
So, I suppose it could be called "The Science of Religion" or maybe better still "The Science of Enlightenment and living with the Angels?"
But, any way you look at it this is a real thing.
And when most of the people (at least this was still true in 1985 and 1986) who lived in what Americans might call "A Fantasy World" where most people are not educated even through 1st Grade you had maybe 60% or 70% of the public then in India who had NO EDUCATION AT ALL beyond whatever their parents had taught them and many not even that who were homeless and beggars.
It has been like this in India for thousands and thousands of years by the way.
So, instead of materialism I found that what Americans would call "Magical Thinking" was what ruled most people's days in regard to psychological and physical survival.
However, I haven't been back to India and might not because of my health and my age now (77) at least at this point won't allow this. Though I could financially likely afford to do this I know my health wouldn't support doing this where I would survive this now. The biggest problem likely would be Jet lag combined with food you can't always count on to be healthy enough to survive if you eat it for a variety of reasons.
Even in 1985 and 1986 people were dying every day around me and I saw the dead and the dying everywhere I looked, especially among the Beggar class where you would find their unattended bodies often on the streets of cities or out in the country then.
You would have to have experienced what I experienced then and many places might still be like this now. However, I have no real idea except from friends who visit there up to 1 time or more a year who have Gurus there in India or who go to meditate there with different groups.
However, I could sense the power of this way of thinking that goes back now 1000s of years and this is really different from anything you might find in Europe or the Americas.
The closest resemblance might be what Native American religions were before the White Man came. This might be the most similar to what I experienced in India except the cultures in India and Nepal and Tibet and Thailand and Japan are thousands of years old with their own forms of writing and Art and Music also.
However, supernatural events were constant everywhere I went in India and Nepal and even Thailand and Japan. However, Japan is much more materialistic like Europe and the Americas.
So, experiencing what life is like for people in India and Nepal is so beyond what anyone in the U.S. normally would be able to cope with that it is still likely more like Going to another planet than anything else.
I think you just have to experience what I'm talking about to know anything at all about it in reality.
Because I was completely unprepared for 90% of what I experienced in both India and Nepal in 1985 and 1986.
I have been very different ever since this time in Asia and realize we sort of live in a full time Disneyland here in the U.S. by comparison.
