We left Mt. Shasta after being there from the night of the 1st on the 7th Monday morning. I felt a little lightheaded after loading the car so I just sat in the car awhile until my wife arrived and I was more okay then. Then I drove us to Redding where our old hair dresser cut my hair (I haven't been able to replace her since she moved to Redding by the way.
Then we traveled south from Redding by then it was 100 degrees in Redding. The highest temperature coming down Interstate 5 to the Bay area was 105 yesterday. However, right here on the coast where we live it is only 64. So, in some ways it's nicer to be in the cooler weather along the coast right now.
It's good to return home after being gone almost 3 weeks visiting relatives and friends in Shasta and Portland. I went swimming in Lake Siskiyou and got sun burned on Saturday on my face and knees so I had to protect my legs especially coming south while wearing bermuda shorts in the heat. The grasses are all very yellow to beige in color so there could be fires anyway anytime now all over the state. The Madre Fire hear Santa Maria has burned 80,000 acres or more so far. I checked last yesterday. I might research this more and blog about it too.
It's very good to be home where it's cooler and I can walk my dog every day on the beach like I did today with one of our housekeepers who is a retired Army Ranger.
