IT WOULD BE A WAY TO SAVE HUMAN LIVES.
However, you would likely have to tell everyone to get at least 20 feet or more away from anything metal. and this also could be a problem because anyone within 12 feet of anything metal is going to die in an Electromagnetic pulse strong enough to kill all the AI in Autonomous robots of air, land sea or Space nearby.
Also, another problem with this is an enemy would only have to stagger the use of autonomous weapons in other words "ONLY WEAPONS IN THE AREA WHEN THE PULSE WENT OFF WOULD CRASH or just stop working.
However, if they were coming in in a staggered formation only the ones in the area of the city would crash and burn or stop working completely. So, once you have triggered an electromagnetic pulse then nothing would ever work again at that location of an electrical nature except for military grade electronics designed especially to survive a nuclear weapon (which also generates and electromagnetic pulse).
Also, the electromagnetic pulse would also kill anything living including humans, pets, birds or any other animals in that area including bugs and fish if they were within 12 feet of anything metal.
So, you see the use of an Electromagnetic pulse is very limited in scope because of asynchronous warfare.
