Can you hard boil egg in a microwave? Supposedly. I'm trying right now.

Where we are staying there is a microwave and refrigerator but no stove. So, I looked this up in Hawaii and this is what I found. So, soon I will find out whether it works in this microwave or not.

However, it is true that each microwave might be different at different power because I have had this experience before.

But, soon I will see if this works in this microwave at the 30 second time and then waiting 5 minutes with a plastic bag covering a pyrex measuring cup.

What happened?

Actually this worked for a poached egg but not for hard boiled.

So, since I wanted a hard boiled egg I removed the shell and put a little water (tablespoon) into the mix and tried putting the plastic over it for another 30 seconds (without the shell because it was at poached egg state)

So, what happened after removing the shell and 30 seconds more on the poached egg state?

A higher state of poached a little closer to hard boiled but not there yet.

So, we tried yet another time at 30 seconds while waiting 5 minutes for it to cook longer in the plastic wrap inside the pyrex measuring cup.

Well. The answer for me at least is that if you want a poached egg this system works but if you actually want a hard boiled 12 minute egg it doesn't work.

However, I have other ideas of how you could make this work but I don't have time for this now.

here is my idea for your next science experiment. First you do the first 30 seconds which makes the egg sort of poached. However, then don't remove the shell. Instead just make a little hole for the egg to release some of the pressure on top of the eggshell. Then try to do the next two 30 second rounds to see what you come up with until you get what you want from your microwave and egg.

However, this is a lot of work so just remember this is a science experiment so you won't be disappointed with the outcome whatever it is.
