I thought it might be useful to see the other proxy wars we have fought in going back to the Korean War:

This latest proxy war is with Russia regarding Ukraine and Iran where we are fighting with Putin who is supplying the Shahed Drones now made in Russia to Iran to blow up countries including Israel in the latest Gulf war involving at least 14 or 15 countries so far in the Middle East. This also is the worst strangulation of oil for the world even worse than the Oil Embargoes of the 1970s which raped the middle class and lower of the U.S. of all their efficient buying power ever since.
