I don't have to worry about dying from something similar to diverticulitis now like I almost did January 4th in the Emergency Room of a hospital near me on the SF Areas Coast in northern California.
Sceduling this with the best Robotic Hernia Surgeon on the West Coast took some time. I had tried to have this done several years ago now but my cardiologist wouldn't sign off on it because my heart was too weak. However, because of a defibrillator pacemaker and Amiodarone my heart has recovered from the damage done by Atrial Fibrillation when I almost died in 2022 and had to have a Cardioversion (which is like a Taser to the heart) which is pretty intense because some people don't survive this trying to reset the heart away from Atrial Fibrillation which I had had for almost two months then straight. I can remmber waiting for my wife to sign me up for emergency room service then wondering if I was going to die that day in 2022 in the fall. Staying calm and focused and having a good medical Advocate like my wife is for me has been a life saver for me ever since she insisted I get full medical insurance around 1995 before we got married. She considered that me having full medical insurance was something she insisted on before we married which helped save my life when I turned 50 a few years later with a heart virus that I almost died from then. But, after 9 months of passing out and laying on the floor as I started to black out from not enough oxygen to the brain I had learned a disconnection kind of meditation from Tibetan Lamas where I refused to panic because panicking is what kills most people with a heart virus.
Like my cardiologist told me then. "Fred you are really lucky because we don't find out that people even have a heart virus until we do a post mortem on them after they have died. You are really really lucky!"
So, learning how to disconnect and stay calm as you pass out could save your life. DON'T PANIC AS YOU ARE PASSING OUT OR IT COULD BE FATAL!
As you start to pass out either sit in a chair or lay on the floor (whatever is useful). If you are outside you might need to lay down on the cement sidewalk or on the ground but you need to remain calm so you don't set up a panic sequence that is almost always fatal to a human being. So, passing out isn't the worst of your worries, going into a panic progression while you are passing out is often fatal for people instead.
When the robotic hernia surgeon (likely the best on the west coast) inflated me with CO2 and looked at my hernia wirh microrobotic technology he found two large hernias not just one. Luckily, he was good enough to sew up both of these and to install because of my advanced age at 77 a mesh or screen.
But, also being the best he told me that he had never had a problem with the mesh growing into organs like some surgeons have had and he said he had done 5000 to 6000 hernia surgeries.
So, I was extremely lucky that my cardiologist allowed this surgery to happen and all and very lucky at 77 to have survived this surgery and now for the hardest part which is recovering from something like this which takes about 6 weeks or so. So, I had this procedure today and I was able to leave the hospital within 4 hours after the surgery and go to where we are staying here in Mt. Shasta which is about 1 hour or more away from Redding where this doctor practices.
By God's Grace!
Note: The hardest part for me so far wasn't the drive north to Mt. Shasta the same day as the surgery.
The hardest part of the whole thing was trying to walk from the car to the elevator to get to our room and then to not pass out down the final hallway to our room. So, I leaned on the wall to not pass out from the pain of walking that far. Also, at first it's good to wear a hernia belt of some kind to offer support to your stomach muscles while you do things too. The doctor said you can wear this hernia belt which is made of a stretch material and has velcro fasteners as much or as little as needed. Everyone is different he said in this of what is preferable.
By God's Grace!
