I heard something about this in the news recently so I wanted more clarification of what I heard. Basically, I guess Macron will make Nuclear weapons and give some (likely through NATO) to Germany and the better armed Countries in the EU in order to better defend themselves against Putin after seeing what he did to Ukraine so far.
This is beginning to look more like World War II again or maybe even World War III with nukes in place all over now.
However, with Trump being the way he is with Europe and the EU it makes sense that they are striking out on their own to survive whatever comes. I think it's time for the EU to defend itself more anyway. So, things are changing to be on a more war footing worldwide now just like before World war I and World War II. Has Trump started World War III?
Maybe.

On March 2, 2026, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France will
increase the number of its nuclear warheads for the first time since the end of the Cold War and deepen nuclear cooperation with European allies. However, Macron is not giving
nuclear weapons to the EU or other European nations, nor is he sharing
decision-making control over their use. Instead, the strategy involves a
new "forward deterrence" framework where France would temporarily
deploy its own nuclear-armed aircraft on the territory of allied
nations.
Here are the details of the strategy, as reported on March 2-3, 2026:
- Increasing the Arsenal: Macron stated that France must increase its nuclear warheads (previously estimated at 290) to maintain "assured destructive power" in a more dangerous security environment.
- "Forward Deterrence": France is working with eight European countries—Germany, the UK, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Sweden, and Denmark—on a strategy that could include joint nuclear exercises.
- Temporary Deployment: For the first time, France may temporarily deploy its nuclear-armed aircraft (Rafale jets) to allied countries.
- No Sharing of Control: Macron emphasized that France will retain "full control" over its nuclear weapons. The French president remains the sole decision-maker for launching a nuclear attack.
- A "Complement" to NATO: The initiative is designed to complement NATO’s existing nuclear deterrence, rather than replace it, due to growing doubts about the reliability of the U.S. security guarantee.
This
move marks a significant shift in French security policy, allowing
European partners to have a "clearly affirmed link" to France's nuclear
deterrent.
