One way to approach the future is that it will be: "A Liberation from the Past"

This seems to be working for me personally of looking at it in this way. So, you may be entering the "Unknown" but the Unknown met with a sense of adventure might be a good thing.

So, rather than see the future as an "Execution" of your lives, maybe seeing the future as a "Great Adventure" like when my family and I went to Asia for 4 months in 1985 and 1986 and went to Japan, Thailand, Nepal and India might be a better example of the future.

So, seeing the future as an "OPPORTUNITY" for Adventure might be the best way to have a good outcome. The future is a Challenge to overcome sort of like playing chess is a challenge of Strategy every moment.

I found myself when I was able to look upon life as an opportunity (an infinite series of opportunities) I could prosper in life in all ways.

If I tried to take on "The whole thing" I felt emotionally defeated before I started. But, when I could see each moment as an amazing opportunity to make something interesting of my life I succeeded.

Life after all is NOT a competition but rather an Adventure of Survival and the more fun you can make it the better you likely are going to be.

When I was going through and awful divorce in 1994 and 1995 a friend of mine who had a master's degree in Psychology told me: "There are no problems only opportunities".

I was able to take this to heart and to see my life as "opportunities" only.

For example, I was going through a divorce so what is the opportunity here?

The opportunity is that one might find another relationship better than the one before (which I did by thinking this way).

 If you are thinking ONLY in negative terms all the time you will always be defeated by life but not really by life you will be defeating yourself by your own negative terms.

So, the only useful way forward I have found is to see life as a series of Amazing opportunities. 

When one door in life closes another door always opens (if you can look at life in this way).

What is the opportunity in divorce? A new relationship or if you don't want a new relationship you could literally go anywhere on earth and be alone or you could also go anywhere on earth and find a new relationship too just by being open to it.

So, one way to view this whole Century is:

"A LIBERATION FROM THE PAST"
