One way to lose weight

For me this present process started in the hospital in early January where I had to change my diet to stay alive then. Over the course of January I learned something about myself. I learned I was either sensitive or somewhat or now completely allergic to gluten (wheat products) like bread and cookies and crackers and cakes and pasta (anything made with wheat).

Since then I also learned that when I didn't eat Gluten at all my edema went away which I found had happened to other people in studies they had done. So, I realized this was real.

So, now I don't have to take Furosemide or Potassium to stay alive with edema because I no longer have edema at all as long as I eat no gluten at all. The other thing you sort of have to give up to some degree is salt which causes water retention in the body especially in the legs and ankles if you have any tendency towards edema.

The point is losing weight might be as easy as giving up all gluten and giving up rice too.

Why give up rice?

Because rice converts into a really high amount of sugar in the body and you usually cannot lose weight as long as you are eating rice at all because your body is living on the sugar of the rice so it has no reason to lose weight until you give it up completely.

The other thing for me is I find if I don't eat between about 9 pm and noon the next day I can lose up to 1 pound a day. However, remember I'm 6 foot 5 inches so if you are shorter than me you might lose up to 1/2 a pound a day or something like that.

And so by giving up all gluten and rice and not eating between 9 pm and noon the next day I can often lose about a pound a day. However, weight loss is in cycles as most of us know too. For example, you can be losing a pound a day for a few days and then the body will plateau and stay at that weight a little bit to become acclimatized to that weight too.

However, I find that I can still usually lose about 3 to 5 pounds a week doing this method of weight loss.

For me, losing weight is helpful because I will likely have to have a surgery in March and the outcome I have been told will be much better if I lose weight right now as much as I can.

So, in the end it's all a balance in life of what you can survive doing in all ways.

However, if you are serious about losing weight this is one way to do it.

My point of view is that life is a Science experiment and so is weight loss.

So, you try something like a science experiment to see what works and what doesn't while trying to stay alive as long as possible.

So far, I've made it somehow to 77 almost 78 years old in thinking this way and living one moment at a time ongoing. If you can be in every moment you have a better chance of surviving all moments in your life I find. If you are too much somewhere else and not in the moment people often just fall down the stairs or something and then they are gone.

So, thinking of your life as a science experiment that you are experimenting with how to stay alive every day I find very useful.
