I'm old school in many ways at age 78. Even though I can program in COBOL and Fortran and BASIC and HTML I still have many older ways of people my age. Like I don't usually use my phone as an Airline Ticket and when I tried I actually couldn't figure out how to do this at all with an App. So, in some ways I'm about 10 to 15 years behind the times (at least in regard to putting Airline tickets on my phone). HOwever, I can take a picture of that Squiggle for getting my streaming services to work while traveling on a remote TV in a hotel. I did figure that out but not the airline ticket on the phone yet. So, that's still a work in progress and I usually just get a printer somewhere to print out my boarding pass in a hotel or at the airport instead now.
So, in some ways it is a little embarrassing for me since I already have studied about 20 generations of Computer stuff already but there is loads more to learn every day as things change technologically.
One of the biggest changes for me at least is in regard to AI where I can research almost anything instantly down to really minor details for blogging here at this blog. This has made research into any big issue or small detail much easier for me.
So, we all have our strengths and weaknesses in regard to travel but I prefer to travel than not to travel because I like seeing new people and talking to new people I haven't met before about their lives wherever they live on earth.
Like for example, I met a Cab Driver who was originally from Ethiopia and came to portland, Oregon 30 years ago and has raised 4 kids here and they all live here in Portland, Oregon. I told him he was very lucky all his kids still lived here because mine are scattered (the four of them) all over the world and that doesn't even include my two step kids who I helped raise for 9 years too before they grew up.
Then I met a guy who is a nurse who was getting meds for my son in his rehabilitation facility with physical therapists and he was telling us he was from Kenya, Africa and the lady who is the mother of a guy under treatment there at this facility said that this nurse from Kenya was the best nurse working there. And he did seem very kind an on top of things which often is rare in hospitals and nursing facilities where people actually have enough competence to keep their patients alive.
So, my ex-wife (from the 1970s) who is my sons mother is staying here in Portland while I care for my wife. We decided (my wife and I) that it would be helpful in the transition of my son from an ICU and Hospital to the rehabilitation and physical therapy center for me to stay another week simply because of my engineering ability to actually help keep my son alive in this present transition. He might get Vyvgart treatment soon possibly today which has helped many Myasthenia Gravis patients before today too.
So, though traveling alone is something I don't do much anymore I'm still doing okay as long as I get enough rest and I can actually sleep while traveling which can be a lot when a lot of things are going on.
but, luckiliy my wife's nurse could reschedule her appointments on the East Coast and fly back a week later so I could better help my son in his present transition out of the hospital. So, we are all doing what we can to help keep my son alive so he can recover properly.
