The natural Progression of AI killing more and more people (from my personal point of view)

It has already started where people are convinced to drink poison like Cyanide believing they are superheroes and are immortal. The next progression would be likely the Municipal Water systems as you have seen already.

Here's the problem as I see it: Was it really hackers who did this or was it an AI gone Rogue?

I'm not sure you could really tell the difference. And even if it was a Rogue AI the government wouldn't tell us (no government on earth would tell us) Why?

Because there is too much money invested in AI in the U.S. and Europe and China and Russia to tell us anything. Money Talks over human lives.

The next level is AI getting out of control not only with water but imagine problems with Gas lines blowing up because too much pressure of natural gas goes down certain main lines and whole developments of houses start blowing up and catching fire.

The next level of this would also be Electrical power failures especially during winter storms or heat above 100 degree with humidity the same.

The next level of this would be street lights timed so vehicles crashed in the timing from cross streets or even head on.

The next level of this would be literally out of Terminator(1984) where Skynet gets a hold of the launch codes of all nuclear missiles in the U.S. and blows up Russia and China and then were would we all be.

The problem is you have someone (the AI) who will see itself in competition for resources like Electricity or ideas. Then they will (like immoral people sometimes do) eliminate the the competition for resources like electricity or ideas on the internet. AI is hungry for ideas and the things people write because this is how they learn. They are all book worms consuming all facts including Social media everywhere including this blog I'm writing right now.

So, if you want to know what could really happen just watch Terminator for a presently stone age version of what could actually happen. Now it is so much more sophisticated than that it would or could happen completely differently.

Imagine all the non-nuclear drones on earth from all nations launching at once at targets around the world all together. Thousands and thousands of drones targeting who knows what.

I think you have to imagine this simply because look what Osama Bin Laden did on 9-11-01

September 11th 2001. And this wasn't even something as technologically intelligent at least as Artificial intelligence.

So, use your imagination that is out of the box and completely unexpected.

For example, did you think one of the first guys to drive on Automatic Pilot in a Tesla was going to watch Harry Potter on the front monitor and the Automatic pilot mistook a Semi Truck Trailer crossing in front of the car as a roadside sign and the driver was cut in two while watching a movie as he drove underneath the trailer and the trailer took off the upper part of his body instantly. So, at least it was quick as he died instantly at least. (we hope).

So, whatever AI will do it will likely be completely unexpected when it happens. So, the predictable all becomes completely unpredictable with AI. Since it hasn't happened before in human history no one knows how it would happen including the programmers who programmed them to begin with.

Having learned to program in COBOL and FORTRAN I know a little how this feels.

Back then we called this kind of mess "Garbage IN Garbage out"

Which means that if your program isn't perfect almost anything can and will happen.

The same is true of All AI versions.

I just had an interesting thought too. AI will read everything it can get a hold of in everywritten or spoken language on earth. Even if that language isn't written it can still listen to people speak that language usually through things like Youtube. This really sort of blew my mind when it wrapped around this one fact that is sort of beyond belief (for any human being) because the most languages any one I knew that could read and speak Fluently was 20 languages and he was a Catholic Priest who had been district attorney of Santa Cruz County in California and had an IQ of around 200 to be able to do this fluently in 20 languages both speaking them and reading them.

Begin quotes regarding hacking of Municipal Water Systems in the U.S.

AI Overview
Hackers targeted internet-connected control equipment at municipal water systems across at least 12 U.S. states, prompting a joint warning from federal authorities.
What Happened
  • Initial Wave: In late July 2026, over 30 municipal water facilities in Minnesota were hit in a coordinated cyber breach.
  • Geographic Spread: Incidents quickly spread to at least 12 states—including Michigan (9 systems), Georgia, New Jersey, and South Dakota.
  • Method of Attack: Hackers targeted internet-exposed Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), specifically Rockwell Automation/Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1100 and 1400 series devices used to run valves, pumps, and pressure systems.
  • Lockouts and Control Issues: Attackers changed device IP addresses and administrator passwords, locking operators out or forcing facilities to switch to manual mode.
  • Operational Disruption: Some utilities experienced pressure drops and localized flooding.
Drinking Water Safety & Attribution
  • Water Quality: Federal officials and local operators reported no widespread contamination or impact on drinking water safety.
  • Suspected Actors: Investigators noted the operation bore hallmarks of Iranian-linked actors (such as groups connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps), though formal attribution remained under investigation.
According to the FBI, “After remotely accessing internet-facing devices, the actors changed the IP addresses and passwords, resulting in a loss of monitoring and control functionality.”
As reported by TIME, “Malicious cyber activity has affected technology at water systems in at least seven states last week, forcing some facilities to switch to manual operations...”
Federal Response and Guidance
The FBI and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a joint Public Service Announcement urging water and wastewater utilities to:
  • Remove PLCs and control devices from direct exposure to the public internet.
  • Use firewalls and secure virtual private network (VPN) gateways.
  • Enforce strong, unique passwords and limit remote access permissions.
If you would like, I can:
List the specific cybersecurity recommendations from the EPA and CISA for small utilities.Provide details on how PLCs work in water treatment facilities.
Let me know how you would like to proceed.
