The Foggy summer weather that the Redwoods and Monterey pines like traditionally starts around June but because of Global Climate changes it can now start anytime between March and June and last until who knows when?
However, generally speaking the warmest month of the year is September because the climate is shifting away from the high summer fog to something else. So, you will tend to see more warm or hot days. However, a warm or hot day for here is usually between 80 and 90 degrees and never usually above that which is why most people don't have air conditioners here on the coast because at most you might need it 1 day to a week all year for weather above 80 degrees to 90.
So, often the best time to visit here might be (depending upon the year of course) in September when kids are back in school once again and the weather MIGHT be nice but you never know of course for sure until you get here.
Today is around 60 degrees and I'm outside on my deck in the back yard looking at the Monterey pine trees and oaks and roses blooming so it's sort of like being in your own private park in this sense today. So, I"m also under a beach umbrella so I don't get skin cancer from the sun too.
For the hot Tub I took a 2 by 4 stud 8 feet long and I found a way to drill a hole about 1 inch wide into the flat part of it and then stick the pole to the beach umbrella down into the hot tub where it can wedge there to be shaded from the sun too when I get into the hot tub. This way I can protect myself from too much sun so I don't have to have any more pre-cancers frozen off my back or face from the sun.
But, it's also true that I have spent my whole life in the sun as a surfer and skier and snorkeler and Scuba Diver (not as much sun when you SCUBA dive). But, Climbing mountains and all the rest including off road motorcycles and mountain bikes are all out int he sun including jogging from age 12 to my mid 40s too.
I found I had too many microfractures in my feet bones from jumping off of roofs when I was 10 to 15 years old in the 1950s and early 1960s so it became too painful in my mid 40s to keep jogging because of this.
So, my whole life has been very active and whenever I could I traveled the world too!
NOTE: the beach umbrella comes with an aluminum shaft which is hollow so a 3/4 inch piece of white PVC fits nicely up inside it. So, when I use this on my hot tub it isn't metal hitting the bottom of the tub it is only the plastic of the PVC so it doesn't damage the bottom of the hot tub. And the folding beach umbrella is about 6 or 7 feet across I believe so it gives enough shade if you position it correctly in the hot tub. Also, I have a glass table with a hole in the middle that also takes this same configuration that I'm sitting under now. So, hopefully this gives you some good ideas for your back yard table or deck or porch or hot tub too.
Inventing new ideas or new physical things just runs in the family of my father's side of the family especially. My Great Grandfather was a Captain in the Civil War northern Army out of Kansas by the way and had a farm in Kansas after the war where my grandfather was born in the late 1870s or early 1880s.
Then in 1927 when he 5 kids were getting older he bought a house and 2 1/2 acres in Lake Forest Park in the Seattle Area where my father became Valedictorian of his High School Class there during the 1930s.
My mother also was from the Seattle Area too and they met around 1941 I think but Dad was married to someone else then so my parents didn't marry until 1946 in Seattle then. Then we moved when I was 4 to San Diego and all of us lived in California ever after that except I went my last year of high school at a private school in Santa Fe, New Mexico and I have also lived in Hawaii on the Big Island and Maui over the years too. I have always loved snorkeling in Hawaii a lot. It's a whole different world over there where you don't have to wear a wet suit to stay warm enough underwater usually.
