The following is an excellent article by the New York Times on the lone gunman and Bomber in Oslo. As you read this article you get the feeling that his ideas aren't that far away from Hitler (ethnic cleansing of all Muslims worldwide) or Timothy McVeigh who set off a similar though smaller bomb in Oklahoma in 1995. Their ideas resemble each other in some ways and are like the opposite point of view of Osama Bin Laden. Unfortunately, there are many Christians around the world who also might want to exterminate the Muslims. Thank God the Majority of Chistians and Muslims are sane and middle of the road people who believe in "Live and Let Live". If this changed suddenly there would be about 1 billion Christians fighting about 1 billion Muslims. Wheat Grass Juice
Though you can go to your nearest Jamba Juice Outlet if you are in California and get a one ounce or even a two ounce shot of Wheat grass juice that is juiced right in front of you with a slice of orange with it, you can also grow your own wheat grass from wheat berry seeds that is used to grow wheat for bread. You can find this in places like Whole Foods usually or your local health food store that sells organic wheat berries for sprouting. So, what I do is to use the plastic covered cardboard flat that my cases of dog food come in and then get a large white plastic trash bag (unused) and tie it around the cardboard flat. Then I buy organic potting soil that is used for growing plants or things like tomatoes or carrots or potatoes or whatever you want and put about 1/2 to 1 inch deep of potting soil in the flat. Then I take take some wheat berries and cover all the soil so there is no bare soil at all without wheat berries on it. Then I take a paper towel and cover all the wheat berries and soil in the flat and then put some water gently over the whole thing. (Just enough to start the germination process). Then I cover the whole thing with Paper bags or cardboard so the seeds think they are in the dark so they will germinate bettter. I water these seeds that I keep in the dark for 3 days once a day. Then on the 4th day I water the seeds again and put them outside in the sunlight so the sprouts turn green from the sun. However, if it is 100 degrees or more outside you might want to protect them from direct sunlight. Also, for the first week (after the first 3 days or so) you have to find a way to drain the seeds and soil without losing all the seeds. After about a week usually all the roots from the sprouts have made the soil and the whole thing one unit and if you are careful you can then take the whole unit carefully out of the plastic and cardboard and let it sit without its cardboard and plastic. But if it is too dry where you are I wouldn't advise doing this. You want the roots to stay moist. So you have to modify what you are doing for where you live and the type of climate you have there year around. So, for example if it is getting really cold (below 40 or 50 degrees Fahrenheit at night you might think about putting your wheat grass sprouts in a window looking outside as long as they don't get too burnt by the sun. Every day you water them. When they get to be about 6 to 12 inches tall you can begin to harvest them. I harvest twice about one week apart or so. What this means is that I take only as much as I want to harvest to put into my wheat grass juicer any day I want wheat grass juice. And remember it is usually best to water them every day as long as you are draining them too. For me, I used the cardboard and plastic bag under them to move them but I let them live outside during the day without the cardboard and plastic on a redwood bench in the sun and clouds during the day. I have developed a technique where I have the roots exposed in this way after about 1 week of growing them so the water drains out onto the redwood bench without the cardboard or plastic under them. Like I said if you like wheat grass juice the first cuttings are the best and some people only do one cutting. My own style is to plant the flat into my yard when I am done but everyone has their own thing that they do. In some areas you might have wheat growing in your back yard. In my area of the northern California coast the wheat isn't happy for long and usually dies out within a month or two after I plant it in the ground. However, it is happy I think for being free and in the ground during that time. Wheat grass juicers come in many shapes and sizes (look online). I prefer a hand crank model made of stainless steel with reverse threads on the end because I used to own old fashioned cherry pitters and apple peelers and I love hand crank technology. However, you might want the most fully automatic set-up in all ways because of either your tastes or your location or both. So, if you develop a taste for Wheat Grass Juice (it is an acquired taste for straight chlorophyll from the sun) through the Wheat grass from wheat berries then go for it any way that you choose. I like it because it is in some ways like drinking liquid sunlight direct from photosynthesis through these plants. It is for some of us like Coffee without the coffee crash once you get beyond the initial nausea if your diet isn't pure enough to drink it. It is very cleansing and empowering in a very natural way. You will feel amazing if it is done in conjunction with a really good diet and healthy exercise.

Friends With Benefits: The Movie
I saw this movie today Saturday with my wife and loved it. It has a very raw kind of Saturday Night Live (SNL) feel to it, and yet, she still somewhere believes in Love in the end. They both have issues, his Mom abandoned his Dad and sister and he 10 years before and now his Dad has Alzheimers out in Los Angeles (likely Malibu). She is a head hunter (finding good people to hire for specialized jobs) in New York and head hunts Justin Timberlake from his job in Los Angeles for a job in New York. That's the set-up and both just broke up with their significant others and so both are emotionally crushed when they meet. And we take it up from there if we see the movie.
Though I thought this might just be a repeat of the movie Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman just made I was wrong. If you can stand a lot of sexual, physical and verbal humor without blanching, this is a very honest movie about how relationships actually work sometimes. It was funny and intense and touching all at different points. I found it to be a very satisfying movie where two people have been hurt by losing their other sex parent (she never met her real dad and he was abandoned by his mother). And because of this they understand each other and as no one else likely ever could or would.

I saw the previews to this movie and it took me back unexpectedly when I was contemplating my own suicide between the ages of 21 and 23 especially. However, it appears like the character in the movie, I also, found that people needed me and those people weren't just my parents but in addition to them. This was how I stayed alive in realizing that many people needed me to stay alive in their lives too. After this realization, I couldn't take my own life and stayed alive to take care of all of them. IN the process I took care of myself.
This movie appears to be about a boy preparing for suicide and then meeting a dying girl who becomes his friend and girlfriend. It has a similar theme in this sense to "Harold and Maude" a classic movie that also might interest you if you need to watch this genre of movie. I don't think Restless is a comedy but "Harold and Maude": the movie is a serious comedy of epic proportions and has a lot to say if you are interested on this subject.

World Stressors are making people Crazy

This also made a lot of people crazy then as well as change beyond a certain point makes some individuals snap. Likely Hitler was one of these, and Stalin and even Mao Tse Tung. However, of all of them the Crazy Wisdom Results of their extreme reactions to the world came out the best for China and the worst for Europe through Hitler. However, both China and Russia benefitted from some of the craziness of the 1930s and 1940s even though millions and millions of people were either killed or starved to death during the 1930s through the 1960s, especially.
It appears that we are entering another extreme time here on earth led by Global Weather Climate changes. One need only look at the changes to weather patterns worldwide and of the resulting changes to food prices worldwide to see the chaos both here and coming. Just these stresses alone likely will cause more individuals like the one who bombed Oslo and killed with a gun so far 85 teenagers and young people on an island off Oslo, Norway. I think we all have to be vigilant in regard to extremists "losing it" either individually or in groups worldwide. I was listening to CNN TV 85 65 37. In a recent poll shown on CNN TV it was found that 85% of Democrats want a balanced debt reform of spending cuts and new taxes. 65% of Independents want the same thing. 37% of Republicans want the same thing. However, Tea Partiers in the House and Senate have all signed "No Tax" pledges. One one level it is admirable that they are taking this stand. But it is a lot like the lone person standing in the way of the tanks at The Tiananmen Square protests of 1989 in Beijing, China. It's the right idea but it can't work yet. So, as a result of what they are trying to do in a completely impractical and non-pragmatic way, they have just elected Obama to a second term just like Gingrich re-elected Clinton in 1996.
However, because of their principled stand without practicality or pragmatism they may have doomed their movement for the time being, just like the Democracy movement was murdered at that time by China. They may also have doomed our credit rating to go from a triple A rating to a double A rating as a nation and just caused a double dip recession by so doing or possibly long term a second Great Depression covering the whole world. Don't Panic
One of the things you learn eventually if you survive past your 40s and into your 50s is that if you panic you could easily die from a heart attack or stroke. So, you learn to control your emotions more so you don't just freak out and die from a heart attack or stroke or other problems as in a panic attack or something.
There is a story my wife like to tell because she grew up on a Concordia (all wood 40plus foot yacht) on weekends because her parents were sailors so she became one too. She likes to tell the story about how when ships sank down through the centuries it was usually the older sailors (25 or 30) or older who survived these sinkings because they had already had their lives threatened by experiences on so many levels that they just tended to think, "Well. I already survived all those things, maybe I'll survive this too if I just keep my head and don't panic." And sometimes they do survive. And many of the younger men might not because they haven't yet had enough experience with life to know, "Panic will almost certainly cause your death in these kinds of situations."
I remember being 8 years old and getting sucked way out into the ocean on an inflatable raft by a rip tide at Zuma Beach in Southern California. But the problem was I couldn't swim. Yes. I could float on an inflatable raft with my 15 year old female cousin but I couldn't swim. So, as the 5 to 7 foot tall breakers crashed on us as we were slowly sucked out way over the heads of my 15 girl cousin and my two 13 year old male cousins who could swim, we all got pretty scared and thought we might die because soon we were about a 1/4 of a mile out. Soon, 5 or 6 lifeguards came into the water to rescue us before we got sucked out any further. However, they had to coax me off the inflatable raft and to grab a hold of their orange floats that were somewhat cylindrical and about three feet long. But I couldn't swim. I had to really struggle not to panic at every point because I hadn't learned to swim yet. So, as the lifeguards pulled each of us in we had to let go of our inflatable raft because that wasn't going to make it back into shore. I was very frightened especially when the waves crashed on me and slammed me against the bottom of the ocean. This happened at least 10 times coming in. I think the conditions were so difficult even some of the lifeguards could barely tow us to shore. This was one of my earliest lessons in learning how not to panic when you are sure you are going to die. I've never forgotten this lesson and have learned to be incredibly rigid with myself when I need to shut off my panic. So, Don't panic unless a truck is bearing down on you and even then just use your fight or flight response to get out of the way of the truck.
Just remember, most people on earth are scared now. Everyone pretty much who has an adult point of view is scared about what is going on in the world: the weather, the politics, the changes of all sorts, 2012 and religious crazies, terrorists and the like. However, in the end: "Don't Panic" if you want to be alive for your kids and grandkids to help them through it all with all your experience and wisdom.

U.S. Wheat Crop Withering in Drought and Heat in midwest
I was reading that since most of the U.S. Wheat Crop is grown this season from Texas to the Dakotas that it is a problem because of the drought and the continuing extreme heat through much of this area. There is a likelihood that Wheat this season might be at a premium in the fall and drive up wheat prices worldwide. On top of the famine in Somalia and other weather problems on earth this isn't a good thing for the average person on earth being able to afford to eat this fall and winter. This might drive up meat and poultry prices as well worldwide this fall and winter.

Types of Singularity Immortality
Though there may be types of "ideal" immortality that you or I could come up with in our dreams, our minds, our thoughts, the types of potential immortality I wish to write about here and types that likely are possible given the present limits of science. So, even though I'm talking about Science Fiction I am also talking about potential scientific fact rather than only idealistic fantasy.
The first type of immortality that the most people present on earth think is possible scientifically is what I would call "A human personality digitally installed in a computer". To some degree we are already doing this just by voice recording, video recording, and people's writings, emails, texts, all over the world. This type of scientifically possible human immortality is already in progress and will only grow in complexity in the coming months, years, and likely centuries for all of us who write, email, text, or talk on the phone, video record ourselves, our thoughts etc. And in time a constant digital feed of all of our thoughts, dreams, desires, disappointments, hopes and dreams (in other words most everything that we are all about) might be possible or at least more possible with each new day, week, month, and year going forward. So, all we are about eventually will be able to be maintained as long as there isn't a power outage or EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) as in a nuclear blast. However, if all we are is stored on a DVD or Blue Ray DVD or a series of them or something like that it could be okay because it would be in a non-magnetic and non-electrical storage format and would survive an EMP but not necessarily an Earthquake or flood. In the case of a flood I'm talking about it being washed away to an unknown location. In the case of an Earthquake it would be irretrievable because of a building collapse. So, though it is possible to store literally "Everything about a human's personality and mind" electronically and digitally and on non-magnetic media, even this kind of immortality is potentially temporary. Because even if it survives floods, earthquakes, fires, etc. it is still vulnerable to digital electronic corruption as one often has found in hard drives over the years. And the same with non-magnetic media that become scratched.
Another type of human immortality being talked about is physical immortality through technical and medical means. One theory is that nanobots could be installed in people to keep their arteries and veins clear of plaque buildup from too much meat and fats in their diets. Another way I suppose is to become a vegetarian. When I had a heart virus in 1998 and 1999 one of the things that saved my own life was that I had been raised a lacto-ovo vegetarian(Dairy products, eggs and veggies) since birth until about 32 years of age when I decided to include some meat, fish, and poultry in my diet. But since I still would say I'm about 85% to 95% vegetarian when I had an angiogram I had the cleanest veins and arteries of any adult they had ever seen as doctors and nurses ever during my angiogram of my heart.
But even as a vegetarian there can be problems such as not getting enough protein and ones bones weakening, especially for women starting about their 50s. In my parents church when people died often their bones were very weak especially the women because of having been vegetarian for so many years and many broke hips and arms and backs the last few years of their lives. So, once again it is important to have some sort of balance in one's life if one actually wants to become immortal physically.
In addition to this "physical health" one must also cultivate mental health. To some degree this is an individual private process. Some people will believe in God and this will allow them to do things in their lives to become immortal but others will simply find their calling in life by becoming humanistic and benevolent to others in emotional, and charitable ways. In this way they will find enough meaning in their lives to live on in contentment and relative happiness. Either way, those that have the wish to become immortal here on earth almost always wish to be caretakers for others, whether those others are either human or animal or another species that walks, crawls, swims or flies. But almost always people's need to care for a significant other or others or just other creatures that they love and care for allows them to be interested in immortality even if only to continue caring for others on into perpetuity.
Another addition to the previous physical human immortality is to have more than one body that one keeps in order to have the same experiences and memories in both. How this exactly would be accomplished is theoretically possible but in actuality how this would be done is still a work in progress even in my own mind.

For example, standard working procedure in his time is to "Time Replicate himself completely and to keep that replica available at all times to his King should anything happen to him on a Time Changing mission. In this way every memory and experience of both Ragnas would be intact up to the moment of when he left and didn't return in one of his bodies from a mission for any reason. This is another potential way for an irreplaceable person in a government, for example, to go on a mission somewhere while still knowing that everything about them up until the moment they left will be there for their government ongoing. In other words there is always a replacement person available who still knows about everything up until the moment he left. in which Bruce Willis and his wife have artificial bodies so they can either be beautiful and young or indestructible because of Bruce Willis being a cop. I suppose this would be another potential way to be immortal by having all your powerful experience lives in a sort of vicarious way in which you would always be safe. However, for me personally, I would rather experience life myself as any barriers decrease the full import of any given situation.
So, there are many different kinds (many of which I haven't illustrated here) of immortals that could or should exist for people of Earth. However, many people say things like, "There is so much poverty and famine that it wouldn't be fair to use resources for immortality.
However, my point of view is much different than that. My point is, "What if the only humans who are able to survive at all have to become immortal to do it?"
What I'm saying by this is that Global Warming might just become so severe that no normal people at all will survive. We may need to have immortals just so they can terraform earth back to where normal humans can still live on it again!

Just Like Heaven: The movie
Just Like Heaven (2005) - IMDb
My daughter wanted to see "Just Like Heaven" that we have in our DVD library. It had helped my wife processing her mother's passing when she went in 1999 so we bought the movie. Another movie in this vein is "Ghost" with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. They both in their own way are more real than not in regard to what happens often in comas or people passing on.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Power grid operators in the U.S. Northeast and Midwest and Ontario, Canada, said they have enough power resources to meet expected high demand on Thursday as consumers crank up their air conditioners to escape a brutal heatwave.
Power usage this week has already been higher than the grids expected for this summer and set a new demand record in the Midwest but was not expected to break records in the U.S. Northeast or Ontario set in 2006 before the economic recession, the grids said.
In the U.S. Midwest, the Midwest ISO said demand for power on Wednesday reached 103,975 megawatts, breaking the 12-state region's previous record of 103,246 MW set in July 2006.
Power companies across the region said they had enough electricity to meet the demand, but warned heavy usage could stress some power lines and generating facilities, which could leave some customers in the dark temporarily. end quote
Since Heat Temperature indexes between 110 degrees Fahrenheit to 120 degrees are all the way from North Dakota to Boston today, more lives likely could be lost during these impossibly warm times across states with about 140 million people in the middle and east of the U.S. If power grids go down that means that some people will be without a way to stay cool. I would recommend putting a whole large pan of water in your freezer because it will take longer to melt. This is a precaution in case your power grid goes down. Then you can put your forehead or wrists on the ice to keep your body temperatures low enough so you don't have to go to the hospital. I have had heat prostration 2 or more times already in my life and thinking ahead is how to save your life. Once you get too hot your mind won't work as well to save your life. So think ahead and live!
Pray Without Ceasing
It is my advice right now to all beings who have the time available to pray for positive results on Earth right now. The confusion in the Congress of the United States right now is unbelievable to me, although it might have something to do with our very last space Shuttle landing today as well. The U.S. used to be a world leader and in some ways is still the only game in town. If you now have time please pray for a good result in Washington DC wherever you are worldwide. Without a good result here the likelihood is that the U.S. confusion in Congress and the wider public will spill over into the world in a form that could be called the 2nd Great Depression, only this time it would be worldwide.
I was taught a form of prayer that is extremely powerful. If you can handle it experience yourself and God in agreement and one in this moment knowing that only if you and God actually are in agreement will this form of prayer manifest. Then see the U.S. and the world happy and moving on from this point with enough money, health, food, shelter and clothing on all worldwide that need it. If enough of us move into this God fusion and God agrees with us in this moment then what we see will be what we get! By God's Grace.
