The Future of Drones

Recently, as I watched "Terminator 3" on Dvd on my Flatscreen with my son, I looked at the future drones that had been directed at humanity of earth in this science fiction epic series, and I thought about what the difference really was between Today's predator drones of the U.S. Military and CIA and those future drones in the Terminator series.

And to my horror really the only difference fundamentally is programming. So, I extrapolated because of my knowledge of history in that every weapon that has ever been developed at one point or another has usually been used on some enemy or some segment of humanity. So, to extrapolate what predator drones will morph into is kind of disturbing to one's psyche if one morphs forward 25, 50 or 100 years in one's thinking.

Yes. It is true that RIGHT NOW they are only under the control of the U.S. forces and possibly NATO forces as well. But in the future that likely will not be true. And right now, the precedent of assasinating leaders of a rival group (Al Qaeda and Taliban) is what is happening in the present. However, if I follow that precedent into the future almost any group's leaders could be targeted by future drones around the world made by many different countries. And what's to stop the drones of some enemy of ours creating air or land drones to assasinate U.S. Leaders in the future? Because of the precedent of the success of U.S. forces in eliminating Taliban and Al Qaeda leaders now, don't you think the world thinks that maybe, "Well. If we had some of those we could assassinate our enemies leaders too."

Though these predator drones are successful now for the U.S. it's just a matter of time before other countries make similar drones and use them against the leaders of their enemies too. And even more horrific than that, what if the Taliban or Al Qaeda started trying to assasinate our leaders with their own home built land, sea or air drones? The only thing separating fiction from truth is money and will. So, because of this, predator drones with hellfire missiles are a very dangerous precedent for mankind and a very scary harbinger of the future.
