Even though people are being told to stay home many places this won't stop the virus from moving more and more worldwide. If you look around the world where there are very few cases right now, (especially in 3rd world nations without good health care) we likely will witness this "Slow motion train wreck" including here in the U.S. from the lack of testing so far. So, it is expected that is likely will get "at least as bad" as Italy at this point various places in the U.S.
The best we can hope for is to slow it down so less people die in the long run. But, this might be a complete disaster for many many millions of businesses worldwide.
Actually, my biggest concern at present is not the deaths that will naturally occur with this but that the financial effects of this will devastate whole groups of people who won't be able to pay their rent or bills or even eat.
People who are already retired might be okay financially but the average person is not and cannot sustain more than about 1 month of this kind of thing financially, without either going into extreme debt or going bankrupt later this year.
So, we might have millions and millions of chapter 13 or 11 or even chapter 8 bankruptcies as people go homeless or worse worldwide from all this.
My wife just told me in tears that companies like Rolls Royce are retooling to make ventilators to help keep people alive during these times.
It brought her to tears thinking about how similar this is to World War II and the war effort talked about to her growing up by her parents when they were still alive. I had the exact same experience because both of my parents are gone too now. They talked to me about all the retooling of car manufacturers to make airplanes and tanks and guns and bombs for world war II. My parents were born in 1916 and 1919 so they lived as teenagers through the Great Depression and as 20 somethings through World War II.
I'm glad this time they are making ventilators and other things rather than bombs and bombers and tanks and guns now in the world.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
