My daughter's boyfriend came to our house from Oregon and stayed with us while he painted the whole front of our house and did a really great job this last fall. Today he called and wanted to talk and also told me about watching Louix CK: Live at the Beacon theater. Then I couldn't sleep tonight and plugged my earphones into my Ipad and watched it over the wifi in my house but my laughing woke my wife up in bed so I had to go finish watching it at the dining room table with earphones on.
I would say his humor is scarily honest. In some ways he takes some of the same risks that Richard Pryor did, who likely was the biggest risk taker of any comedian I have ever seen. But, for a white guy he comes pretty close for sheer honesty and risk taking as a comedian.
While my daughter's boyfriend was painting our house we watched the first 6 episodes of 'Breaking Bad' together until I realized it was too twisted for me to watch. If I was 30 years younger (or even 20 years younger) watching it might have been okay. However, now I find I need to be careful what I watch on TV or movies because I have watched so many real people die that the sting is still in my mind from all the people that died that I loved in my life. So, humor really helps. So, watching Louis CK tonight on Netflix when I couldn't sleep helped a lot to remove my burden of years.
Sometimes, when I see a small child that doesn't yet carry the burden of having lived this long and watched so many die I feel kind of envious of their relative innocence.
Tonight it was just good to have a good laugh watching Louis CK so I can just keep on going
and staying alive for those of my family and friends who are still alive.
