Goldman Sachs (
NYSE: GS ) is investing in a $500 million fund from
SolarCity (
NASDAQ: SCTY )
that will in help the company install 110 MW of solar. This is the
latest in a growing trend of big banks betting on solar power. Erin
Miller sat down with solar analyst Travis Hoium to see whether this is a
big deal or business as usual.
end quote from:
Here is the problem as I see it. Because California, India and China are already in a state where it is equal or less expensive to generate solar than to use any other fuel to generate power there, you are going to see solar power explode worldwide. However, will the solar panels be manufactured in the U.S. ,Europe, China? This is the unknown at this point. Depending upon where the panels are made people are likely going to make a lot of money. However, China has been known lately to flood the market with panels that no one else in any other country can compete with, (even if those prices put the Chinese companies on a track to bankruptcy). So, is the Chinese Government trying to corner the market so everyone has to buy their solar cells from China no matter the cost? Maybe this is true. So, before you invest in solar take a look at what I'm saying here.
note: If you remember Microsoft and other companies used to give away operating systems and other software for free long enough to get enough people addicted to their stuff so they eventually would pay for it. Skype- Same thing. So, maybe China-the nation- being the biggest national state corporation on earth is trying to do the same thing with Solar Cells? Only the very biggest companies can do things like this. Since China, the State Corporation is literally the biggest of them all. What do you think?
Think how dangerous this would be if all companies outside of China stopped making solar cells, computer components etc. This would make the world vulnerable and dependent on China. So if there ever was a war guess who would win? I think this is their strategy long term. The Chinese strategy is for the next 1000 years and the rest of the world needs to be aware of this. Thinking in terms of 1 year, 4 years, 10 years or even 25 years just isn't going to cut it anymore.
If you look at Chinese Culture it has been around 5000 years already. Understanding this, China has only been adapting to the world changes since it's monarchy ended. And now it is back on the world stage in full 1000 year plan mode once again.
