The main reason is that most people believe that Earth is a physical world and that it is real. If people believe this, because they believe this it becomes real for them whether or not it is actually true in an ultimate sense. So, they will not be able to survive (in their perceptions) without a physical world to live in. As the temperatures rise, winds rise, storms get worse during the rest of this century, less food will be able to be grown outside of a protected greenhouse or something like that. So, there will be less and less and less cheap food grown, though there will be more expensive organic food grown too. So, those in the lower economic strata worldwide won't get enough to eat to sustain their bodies to stay alive.
So, we should be concerned about CO2 for people who are not educated and may not be able to survive what is coming this century and after worldwide. For example, at some point this century weather will get so bad that populations on earth will start to dramatically decrease because of it. This is a given at this point because even if everyone on earth did everything they could to be ecological worldwide it would not be enough to stop what I'm talking about this century. Major population reductions are coming likely within the next 100 years here on earth.
