After reading the previous article about Wolves I'm thinking that likely not only are Polar Bears going extinct, likely within 50 years Alaskan Wolves will be extinct, and not much longer after that Alaskan Caribou will be extinct because they need the wolves to stay strong and genetically healthy.
The wolves only eat the caribou that aren't strong: (The old, the young, the weak). When they do this this genetically makes the Caribou much stronger so they can survive the hard winters without much food. However, if the Wolves go extinct in Alaska within 50 years from now the Caribou will also go extinct not long after because too many weak caribou will survive and lower the capacity of survival for all members of the Caribou herds. Hunters don't shoot the weakest caribou. They usually shoot the strongest males who are the ones who impregnate whole herds. So, hunters also reduce the genetic quality of Caribou herds too.
Luckily at least some Polar Bears are interbreeding with Grizzlies out of desperation so at least there will be Grolar Bears for some time still which is one of the names for the cross breed.
