Why is this?
Because people who are bigoted in the first place tend to only converse or have contact with people and articles and videos of other bigoted people. So, this only increases their bigotry and the potential for violence therefore only increases worldwide.
There was a study about this and they took a class and divided it between bigoted and non-bigoted people. Then they had each group only go online and have social media contact with each other.
The result was that the bigoted people only became more bigoted and the non-bigoted people even became less bigoted.
This is why terrorism is growing as rumors are passed between various types of bigoted people and passed as facts.
This happened to Fareed Zaharia on CNN's program GPS on Sunday mornings.
First a site that was supposed to be a satire site was taken seriously by people who don't like people that look like Fareed Zaharia. They made up a story about this article being true even though Zacharia had not written any of it and didn't even know about the article. This went viral among anti-terrorist types who then got hysterical and started calling his home and telling Fareed they were going to kill him when his daughters 7 and 12 years old were there.
So, he brought all this up on the air on his program this morning to show just how bad this sort of thing is getting not only here in the U.S. but also worldwide.
So, when really bigoted angry people get involved in social media it often causes people to die from rumors worldwide. And the rumors people die from are seldom true and usually not.
This kind of social media also explains why someone like Trump would be popular about now too. Because most of what he says if it is fact checked isn't even true in the first place. So, he is winning through manipulation of rumors and not facts which is dangerous to us all not only in the U.S. but also worldwide.
