Why?
Because often people tell us things that simply are not true as we are growing up. But, if we are not logical and observational we are not able to discern which things are true and which are not.
It is not that other people around us growing up are not sincere. Being sincere really has nothing at all to do with what is truth and what isn't. Often very sincere people (in any century) past, present and future firmly believe things that simply are not true. They can still be the sweetest most lovable people even if they don't believe in things that are true.
However, your survival and your children's survival might depend upon you knowing what is true and what isn't true.
Because of this, loving people who are sincere shouldn't stop, but neither should believing what they say without evidence.
I constantly gather evidence of what is true and what is not true all the time. Because of this my version of reality is constantly changing in various ways as I receive more and more accurate information regarding all things.
