You can always count on Jennifer Lopez to pull out all the stops for her red carpet appearances, and the 2019 Met Gala was no different. Leaning into the gaudy, glitzy "camp" theme, J. Lo lit up the Met Gala pink carpet in a jaw-dropping sparkling Versace dress. Alex Rodriguez complemented J. Lo's look in a bubblegum pink suit jacket, black trousers, white button-up and a black bowtie. The couple are on the 2019 Met Gala committee along with Chadwick Boseman, Lupita Nyong'o, Lena Waithe, Priyanka Chopra, and more.
J. Lo's flashy Versace dress featured a plunging V neckline and a thigh-high slit because, really, no J. Lo lewk is complete without a full leg reveal. Lopez paired the dress with iridescent platform heels, stacks of diamond bracelets, rings and a silver clutch. An enormous pendant necklace rounded out the dripping-in-ice effect.

J. Lo has always been a longtime fan of Versace-it's safe to credit her for making the green Versace gown she wore to the 2000 MTV VMAs one of the brand's most iconic dresses to date-but this year's Met Gala look held a very special meaning. Luigi Massi, Versace's longtime tailor, passed away earlier this year before finishing her 2019 Met Gala gown.
In an emotional YouTube video posted to her channel, J. Lo remembered her dear friend Massi. "He didn’t speak any English; he spoke Italian. And I didn’t speak any Italian, but somehow we always understood each other and we had the best time working together for 20 years," she said in the video. Through tears she thanked Massi for making her "feel so beautiful so many times. So perfect, everything. Your attention to detail, your talent and your love will never be forgotten. Thank you, Luigi, we will miss you."
