About a week ago the total cases of coronavirus were hovering between 500 and 700 and today the number of cases just in Washington are 1012 and deaths are 55.
And now New York State has 1708 cases with 16 deaths so far. So, these are the two worst hot spots so far.
Though most northern California coastal counties are sheltering in place you likely aren't going to see this in New York City because of the small apartments there that might drive people crazy to isolate them into. In Northern California there are beaches and trails everywhere so that people can walk alone or with their mate and help them stay sane through all of this as long as they stay far enough away (6 feet) from other people.
So, if the cases keep going up 9 times per week I figure we will surpass Italy's cases by next week sometime. However, remember Italy is only 60 million people whereas the U.S. is 327.2 million. So, you have to create a ratio to make more sense of the numbers here in relation to Italy.
