The Europeans coming to America to settle here in the 1600s and 1700s and after had immunities to the ancient plagues of Europe

But, the Native Americans did not. They had not had colds and flu or plagues like small pox before so 90% of native Americans died of these things. It was why settlers could settle here and not be killed by many tribes of Native Americans on the East coast. Then later in the 1800s as European Americans moved west the American Soldiers often gave infected small pox blankets to Native American Tribes to save the lives of their soldiers and settlers while killing even more native Americans.

So, the plagues of Europe eventually conquered the Native Americans who had no immunity to them like the European settlers did. because 100s of millions of Europeans who were not immune had already died centuries before. So, literally everyone alive in Europe was immune to these things before they came to America because that's the only ones left alive in Europe at that time.

Begin quote:

When the Europeans arrived, carrying germs which thrived in dense, semi-urban populations, the indigenous people of the Americas were effectively doomed. They had never experienced smallpox, measles or flu before, and the viruses tore through the continent, killing an estimated 90% of Native Americans.
