If you like the Dune Series now you also might really like Dune(1984). This is around the time (or before that I and many members of my family first read some of the Dune Series which is written very excellently. Frank Herbert was a very detailed and all encompassing Author the way he wrote which can be overwhelming as you plow through more than the first three books. However, it is an amazing world he creates which relates in it's own oblique way to the middle East if you replace the "Spice" for Oil instead of the Hallucinogenic "Spice" which allows time travelers to travel both time and space in Dune. I they they call it "Folding Space" for instant travel to another location. So, it isn't as much about time travel it is the complete annihilation of time and space and instantly being anywhere through (folding space).
