I have a feeling that Assad has fled Syria realizing his army cannot hold back the rebels. However, if his people and army know he has fled or even suspect Assad has fled they are all going to disappear into the woodwork into Syria or into other countries (sort of like the America Supported government in Afghanistan when that all ended a few years ago during the beginning of the Biden Administration and the Taliban took over. I think this is sort of like the Taliban taking over in Afghanistan now. It may already be a done deal. (especially with Russia too hard pressed in Ukraine to help Assad stay in power). You can really see just how depleted Russia is that they would allow their only warm water port to go away with the end of Assad.
