I think there is a 40% to 50% chance of rain tomorrow which is good because different localities are from 80 to 109% of the average rain so far this year. So, getting more beneficial rain would be good. The Snow level is about average in the Sierras too and people are skiing on Mt. Shasta now as well as they plowed the road between MacBride Springs and Bunny Flat now too which means on the downslope there are snowmobiles and on the upslope (above the road there) there are only cross country skiers and snow shoers.
The waves are crashing really loud tonight and I looked out and saw clearly the crescent moon and Venus above it and took some good shots just after sunset. By the way the Sunset was really beautiful on the coast today and even better because it was 69 degrees where I live (just for today) mostly it's been between 58 and 60 degree highs up until now since all the rain that came in for about a week or more recently.
Also 49 tonight and 50 tomorrow night so not as cold as it has been with freezing lately inland from where we are.
But, the waves tonight (the sounds) were really impressive much like when the 25 to 35 foot waves were crashing last weekend and three people died last week. They found one of the bodies offshore but I think they lost the body before the Coast Guard cutter could retrieve it because a Whaling tour boat found the body and it likely had been chewed on by various things and the Captain didn't want the tourists to start freaking out and barfing over the side seeing the body so they kept their distance to protect their clients. So, when the Whaling tourist boat left no one else could find the body then. I think they waited and hour for the Coast Guard but nobody came because it was I think New Years Eve.
But, the waves crashing and the 10 feet vertical of sand gone from the storms so far was really impressive, especially when I went down at low tide and saw rocks I had only seen once in the last Winter in the last year ever since. So, the sand is almost gone completely many places because of the 25 to 35 foot waves dragging the sand (and any people close enough) out to sea. So far at least 3 people have been lost in the last 2 weeks along the coast with many many rescues where they were able to save the people on Jet skis usually which are fast enough not to crash on the rocks where many people are getting banged around these last few days.
Some surfers have even had to be rescued by Jet Skis manned by lifeguards various places too because of the large waves and people overestimating their abilities for that day.
