I think what drew me likely was reading "My Life in Tibet" with my father in my 20s where this guy grows an orange tree in his hand from an orange seed. I think this likely began my fascination with Tibetan Buddhism. Then there is a 1930s movie about "Shangri la" that was called "Lost Horizon" from 1937.
These and other things attracted me to Tibetan Buddhism. However, I didn't receive my first Tibetan Buddhist initiation or practice until 1980 in Ashland Oregon from a Nyingma Tibetan Buddhist Lama then.
This began something really amazing in my life where I began to grow in leaps and bounds and spiritually and in all ways in my life from 1980 on.
I had struggled to find my way during my 20s a lot but as soon as I placed my feet on the path of becoming enlightened through Tibetan Buddhism my life has been amazing in many different ways.
My kindness towards myself and all other beings has just grown and grown in all ways. So, I'm very grateful for the path God Chose to put me on that has brought so much happiness and peace in my life.
However, I still see myself as a Mystical Christian Tibetan Buddhist even today 45 years after my first Tibetan Buddhist initiation and practice that I received in Ashland Oregon from a Tibetan Lama.
By God's Grace
Note: I was born in 1948 so I was in my 20s in the 1970s and my 30s in the 1980s so, my first Tibetan Buddhist Initiation was when I was 32 in 1980 in Ashland, Oregon.
