Just in California prices have risen on average for Regular Gas 70 cents per gallon or 7 dollars for every 10 gallons just in the last 30 days alone.
Understanding this is just the first week of this war in Iran and this could easily go on for weeks, months or years with no end in sight right now.
So, having your home or credit card debt paid off now will allow you to keep your homes, pay your mortgages and keep on surviving even if you have to take an electrically powered bus or natural gas powered bus to work because you might not be able to get gas for your car or truck or even motorcyle.
Part of the way people dealt with this during the Arab Oil embargo when they had land was to put in a large gas tank (usually underground to prevent it more readily from blowing up when full and then pumping as much as they needed to run locally.
However, going cross country by vehicle or even plane might not be possible because of the coming gas and diesel crisis. Also, if you have solar power to your house this would be good now too and if you have something like a Tesla Model X that can pay for itself they say in 5 years in the gas your save might help you survive these times too. Because it's possible (just like in the 1970s) you might not be able to buy gas and even electrical generating stations might have to charge a lot more for electricity. So, whatever you can do to survive these times might be a good idea now.
This is what they mean by saying we are moving towards a war time economy worldwide now.
It's possible there will be gas rationing also like during World War II as well.
