This is very unusual for California the damage from a Tropical sTorm that was a Hurricane in Mexico. However, it was a pretty interesting occurrence too as it happened here in California. Something like this is as rare in California as Tornadoes which also can happen here.
I remember one year in the last 5 that my daughter and wife and I sheltered in our inside bathroom with no windows from a tornado that hit about 10 or 20 miles away. However, not being experienced with things like this we listened to the TV Reporters to take shelter from the tornado. After this we removed the glass shower stall there if anything like this happened again and put up a shower curtain instead in case there is another tornado near us here on the coast of California. Likely because of weather changes there will be tornadoes many places where they never were before before Global Climate changes. So, learning to adapt to these things as they occur is one way to survive all over the earth now.
