towards setting and my bindings gave out this day skiing on Mt. Shasta. So, my 10 or more year old mountaineering skis were not helpful because only one binding was working. I was really grateful to find these snowmobile tracks because otherwise I would have been walking with one ski on in 4 feet of snow each right step all the way to my 4 wheel Drive Truck. Also, I was having to do this at age 64 at around 7000 feet alone. My friends had skied down to 7 mile curve because their bindings were okay. A couple of days later I bought new skis after giving my old ones to someone who would change the bindings to new ones. But, I sure was grateful to whoever put those snowmobile tracks in because the snow was 6 or 7 feet deep and having your leg sink in 4 feet each time is kind of hard to do uphill at age 64 alone. So, before the sun set I reached my truck and then drove down to pick up my friends at 7 mile curve on Mt. Shasta.
I was so out of breath when I reached my truck at that altitude trudging through the snow that I realized I couldn't talk on my cell phone and carry on a conversation when my cell phone rang. So, I had to wait until I had caught my breath again to call back and tell them I was coming to pick them up in my 6 passenger 4WD 3 miles by ski away.
But until my binding gave out it was the best skiing I had had in a long time. The conditions were perfect even though my friends said it iced up pretty bad further down. So, maybe God was protecting me by making me walk back up to my truck.
