Some people might define Wealth as power.
However, I think I would personally define wealth as "The ability to do good for yourself and others".
It is possible to do great good without being personally wealthy.
It is possible to do great good for yourself without being personally wealthy.
People usually have either time or money. But, in the crazy world we have been living in since 9-11 often people have neither. They are so busy trying to survive wherever they live on earth that they are just busy surviving. And it mostly wasn't that way on earth from about 1950 until the 1990s. However, it has become that way once again since the 2000s worldwide.
Why is this?
I personally think it is resources like clean water and enough food dwindling worldwide combined with a more difficult time getting energy out of the ground in one form or another. This causes spikes in prices for most kinds of energy except solar and wind and likely this trend will continue ongoing at least throughout this century.
What this means in average terms for most people is that some types of energy will become more expensive ongoing. The two types of energy most tied to this are oil and natural gas, though coal will likely become more expensive as labor costs tend to increase over time worldwide for a variety of reasons.
So, the likelihood that wealth will be relegated to those who own energy sources through stocks, for example, will stay wealthy, and those who don't will likely on average become poorer and poorer. The only way I can think that this would change is for some newer system to be instituted here on earth. If a way could be formed for the average person on earth to share the wealth if they were responsible enough not to overpopulate the earth and to be aware of the needs of all people of earth and volunteered their time to contribute in some useful way I think this could work. But, for this to work a world wide consensus and agreement would have to be made between all peoples of the Earth.
So, you could have a two tier society. In the lower tier, if you were responsible, you would be fed, clothed and sheltered, if you were trying to help the civilization survive and prosper better. And then the next tier would be for those who were very capable and their wealth would not be limited in any way. And it would be possible to go from one tier to another through due diligence or windfall as well.
In this way world society could become fairer to all which would cause much less strife between nations and groups of people. And this could bring a much higher degree of working together and harmony than seen before on planet earth.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
