Since the timeline has been altered all of Kirk's and Spock's adventures are also altered as well. In this one Khan shows up as in "The Wrath of Khan" in a different guise with very different adventures. My wife and I didn't realize this until it was almost over. But, this is definitely an E-Ticket Ride (E-Tickets were originally in the 1950s and maybe 1960s the best rides at Disneyland in California). Back then you had A tickets through E Tickets and the E Tickets were always the most thrilling and adventurous rides you could go on then.
This is a thrill ride from beginning to end and doesn't leave you a chance to catch your breath. So, if you want to have your heart in your mouth for a whole movie this is an escapists movie in full. So, if you like Star Trek you will love Kirk and Spock and Dr. McCoy and Scotty in this one.
